For kids who live in Foster Care, home and family to call their own can be a dream turning true. Having someone to care for can be the best thing to happen in life. Loralie Henry, a 9-year-old girl knows the absence of intimate family. She wished for more. She has been a foster kid for more than 1445 days. Loralie spent years being scared as she moved to different foster homes. But one day, her life changed!
Meet Loralie Henry, a 9-year-old foster kid who went to foster care when she was just 4 years old.
Loralie began her life in foster care and returned to her mom when she turned 5 but came back to foster care when she was 6.
She didn’t have the easiest life.
Loralie said, “I was in foster care when I was 4. Then I went back to my biological mom when I was 5. Then back in foster care when I was 6. It was scary, too. I didn’t know what to expect in other homes or what they would feed me,” she said. “I didn’t know what to do. So I thought, ‘Well, what should I do? Is there anyone waiting for me?’ I was really scared. Until I met my mom. My second grade teacher.”
Meet Zoe Henry, Loralie’s teacher in second-grade class.
Living in La Verne, California Zoe was a single mom with no intention to adopt when she met Loralie.
When she met Loralie in school, she knew that Loralie was special.
Zoe told ABC7, “She came into my class, and I just took one look at her – her little freckles, her little birthmark.”
She added, “I am going to adopt this little girl. She’s my daughter. The minute I set eyes on her.”
Two days later, Zoe brought Loralie home.
Zoe feared Loralie will be adopted by someone else. But, she reached the adoption centre on time and adopted her.
Loralie recieved the perfect gift. A home, finally!
The adoption was finally made official after 2 years.
Luckily, there are people like Zoe Henry in the world to give us a heartwarming story!
