Not all heroes wear capes or mask some are just 10-year-old boys. A boy from Louisiana named Jayden Fontenot did an amazing act of bravery.
He helped his mom deliver his new sibling at home. He saved two lives with his presence of mind and keeping calm.
Everything started in the morning when his mom Ashley Moreau went into early labor unexpectedly. After waking up from the morning nap she went to the washroom and felt extreme pain and realized the baby was not in the right position.
The baby was in a breech position which means the baby is bottom-down instead of head-down. This happen a month ahead of her due date which was on August 11.
Jayden heard her mom and ran down to the washroom to check on her and found her in pain. Then immediately went to his grandma’s house next door and called 911.
After calling for help he came back to the washroom with his mother to help to find his brother’s feet out in full view.
Unfortunately, Ashley’s fiancé had gone to work already.
Only 10 years Jayden and his little sister who is 11 months old were home.
Ashley told“The scariest thing I’ve ever been through in my life.”
She also stated that the baby was not breathing and his feet turned purple.
Where most people would panic or freak out, Jayden acted on instinct.
Jayden then very calmly asked his mom for instruction on what he should do next.
Jayden wasn’t even close to being scared.
Ashley Moreau instructed him on how he should take the baby. She told him he needed to do this as soon as possible because, as in the breech position the baby is not able to breathe. Jayden heard everything very calmly and started to pull the baby out.
He got down and reached for the baby’s legs and gently pulled him out.
The baby wasn’t breathing.
Jayden dashed for the kitchen to get a nasal aspirator to help clear the baby’s airways.
Soon the paramedics arrived and helped the newborn and mother and got them to the hospital. The doctors later praised the boy for his presence of mind and stated if he wasn’t so calm and didn’t do what he did the newborn would not have survived. If it would have been late her mother could have died with the loss of blood and his brother’s lack of oxygen.
When Kelsey Richard Ashley’s fiance got to know about the whole incident both mother and baby were in the hospital.
He later stated- “You don’t hear about stuff like this. It’s amazing how brave and everything he was … calm, collective. He saved their lives, he’s a hero.”
“Angels come in all shapes and sizes that young boy right there is an angel.”
He certainly is a hero.
All older brothers are heroes to their younger siblings but this boy has certainly proved it already.
He has taken his job of protecting his brother literally from his first breath. Jayden’s brother has a very brave brother to look up to.
